GIVING BACK TO OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN AND THEIR FAMILIES

One of the primary missions of our aircraft is to provide air transportation services to severely injured/ill active duty military personnel and their immediate families as well as disabled veterans and their immediate families. VES staff working in concert with the Veterans Airlift Command (VAC), Military Hospitals and the Wounded Warriors Project schedule and fly approximately one to two Hero Flights missions per month. Our aircraft, which is based in Texas, has non-stop capabilities to any city in the lower 48 from Houston as well as world-wide navigational capabilities. There is no charge of any kind to the serviceperson, VET or family members who fly on “VES [Veterans Evaluation Services] Blue”. When our aircraft flies such a mission the FAA designates N510GT a “Hero Flight” and the plane’s call sign changes from N510GT to “HRF510”. FAA ground controllers communicate with the aircraft using this unique call sign thus notifying all controllers and other aircraft within the vicinity that some very special passengers are on board. All pilots who fly N510GT are ATP or commercially rated, type rated in the aircraft and all are ex-military.
