Hero Flight Mission #34 Date: Sept 5-6, 2014 Sargent Adams completed his first tour in Afghanistan in March 2009, then he was redeployed in September of 2010. While on a recovery mission in February of 2011, of a National Guard unit that had become lost, his MRAP made a wrong turn on a mountain road. While maneuvering the vehicle backwards it was blown up by an IED. Sargent Adams said the next thing he remembers is being evacuated on a helicopter, both of his heels were shattered. After having three surgeries he spent the next18 months recovering and learning how to walk again. He lives with his wife and two children in McAllen and has recovered his ability to walk. He became friends with another Alabama Crimson Tide fan, Alabama being Sargent Adams favorite college team. He was given two tickets to the Alabama home game against Florida Atlantic for September 6th. Alabama beat Florida 41-0.
